even more kid quotes

I realized that it's been a long while since I did a kids' quote post, so I'm going to get caught up. I love looking back and reading through them...they make me laugh. :)

Conversation during math earlier in the year:
Kiki: "Color the circles red and the triangles blue."
LMG: "So I color the circles red and the triangles blue?"
Kiki: "Yup!"
LMG: "So...I need a yellow and a blue crayon?"
Kiki: {{blink, blink}} oh my heavens.

********************

A feeling-sick little MH trying to explain how he was feeling:
"Kiki, my tummy feels like there is a vampire melting in it! and a ghost too!"

Hmm...that doesn't sound too good!

****************

Listening to LMG make up her own song while she played:
"Jesus! Jesus! He is wonderfuuuuul....He is sooo wooonderfuuul!!"

Love it. :)

******************

LMS: "Kiki, how do you turn a circle upside down?"

Hmm...Good question!

***********************

MH at the playground in early March when it was still cold:
"Kiki, I'm freeeeezing!!!"
"Why don't you put your hands in your pockets?"
"Cuz the cold got into them!"

I hate it when the cold gets into my pockets, don't you?? ;)

*******************

I had to send MH to sit on the stairs in time out one day and realized a minute later that he was sitting there singing to himself. His song of choice? MJ's "I'm bad".
Oh my.

*******************

MH: "Kiki, you're not a grown up yet."
"I'm not?"
"No."
"Am I a teenager?"
"Ummm...no."
"Then what am I?"
"Uhh...you're a nanny!"
Ah. I see.

*******************

MH ready for a snack:
"Give me some crackers, Kiki!"
(shocked look from kiki) "Excuse me?!"
"Pleease??"
"I was about to ask where your manners went!"
"Oh. They went to the store. Just real quick. To buy me a new heart!"

********************

MH wiped his runny nose on the back of the white couch and when I gave him a "what were you thinking?!" look, he explained:
"It's just soo far to the bathroom!!"

*********************

Going over a few letter sounds with MH one morning:
"G says guh"
"ok,...what does H say?"
.....split second pause.....
"H says, 'Boy am I stinky!!'"

************************

Kiki:
"We're going to make something really cool...and mommy is gonna die when she sees what we're making!"

LMG: (thinks for a moment...)
"Kiki! Don't make it so cool!! I don't want mommy to die!!"

*******************

Mr. Happy one rainy day after playing with play dough for a while:

"Kiki, is it a rule that whoever gets out a toy has to clean it up??"
Hmm...interesting question since technically Kiki got out the play dough...! Lol!

LMG this morning to mommy:

"Can I make a lemonade confession stand?"

more kid quotes

just real quick so i don't forget.

*************

kiki: let's see what we can find for a good snack today!

mr. happy: how about a mushroom?

**************

There is a playground at the church across the street that we go to often. There is also a walking track around it and we sometimes see the same people walking now and then. Our favorite is a husband and wife who have a dog named Smiley. We all love Smiley...it's a happy day when we get to see her at the playground. And she really does look like she's smiling all the time. We were just leaving one day after getting to love on her for a little bit and Little Miss Giggles says...

"I like Smiley. Smiley's a good name. If I ever have a dog...or a kid...I'm gonna name it Smiley."

***************

LMG also asked me recently if we could watch Tigger-the-Pooh sometime and informed me that mommy used to like to watch The Three Students.

Kiki reading a pop-up book with fairies in it:
"We are the luckiest fairies ever!"

Mr. Happy's comment:
"Doesn't that just make you wanna CRY??!"

:)

*********************************

LM Giggles, out of the blue in the car yesterday:
"Kiki, can I marry your brother when I grow up??"
"Haha...yeah, sure!"
.....
"Why do you want to marry my brother??"
"... Why not?!"

Hmm. Good point.

"He's so cool!"

Another good point.

kid quotes

Just a couple recent quotes from my crazy kiddos.

***************************************************************************************************************************************
LMS in the middle of lunch one day: "kiki, do you know the binomial name for a gecko??"
(after my "excuse me, WHAT?!"...she proceeds to tell me the correct binomial name for a gecko...i don't remember what it was.
Kiki: where did you learn that?!
LMS: from spiderman.
*of course!* ?!
(it was from a Tag book - kinda like a leap pad book...)

***************************************************************************************************************************************

LMG: Kiki, I sure would like to go back to those foggy hills sometime...
*puzzled look from Kiki*
LMS: she means the smoky mountains...!

**************************************************************************************************************************************

Completely serious question and comment from MH:

"Kiki, why do they call them bumblebees?? ......is it because they like to sting you on your bum??"

**************************************************************************************************************************************

And the latest one from LMG:

They were very happily playing with playdough the other day when she turns to me and says:

"Kiki, I think you're going to be one of those black and white ladies."
I scramble to think what in the world she's talking about....
K: "You mean a nun??"
LMG: "Yeah!"
...
K: "Why do think I'm going to be a nun??"
LMG: "Because! You can't find a guy to marry!!"
At which point LMS pipes up with: "Well, you know he's out there somewhere!!"

I'm so glad to know my girls are worried about my marital status...lol! :}

***********************************************************************************************************

And now it's time for THIS!!! Updates to follow. And hopefully I will get to meet a certain adorable someone **in person**!! I. Can't. Wait.!!! :)

Hope your summer is going well!

just two stories

This morning at breakfast my middle child asked me a question and as I was thinking about my answer, she then looked at me and said, "Kiki, you don't have to answer that if you don't want to. I asked a whole lot of questions! I always ask lots of questions! So you don't have to answer that one! Only if you want to."

Of course I answered it for her. :)

The girls had Dr.'s appointments this afternoon so my baby and I were snuggled on the couch for a while together playing school games on my itouch. He asked to look through the photos I have on it so we went through them naming all the people he knows. We got to one of Lauren and her baby cousin and this is the conversation that followed,

J: Hey! That's Lala! (His own name for Lauren :)
K: Yup! And that's her friend Emilia. (Hard to explain 'cousin' to a 2 year old...)
J: What?? I thought she was MY friend! (sad, confused look...)
K: You thought Lala was your friend?
J: Yeah!
K: Oh, it's ok, she's your friend too.
J: OH. ... Ok!

I LOVE hearing him talk about what's on his mind. :) I knew I would forget these stories if I didn't write them down right away. :)

tuesday.

Well, I'm off until Tuesday. Tuesday because Monday is Labor day.

I just talked to Wendy - and got to talk to both of my girls. I asked the middle one if she was all better and she said, "NO. I'm still sick! THAT'S WHY WE'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!" Then I asked how her sister is doing and she said, "Oh, she's DEFINITELY still sick! She's lying on the couch watching a show. We've watched A LOT of stuff. And [my brother] is throwing goldfish at me...and stomping on them!" (Hmm...sounds like he is feeling much better!)

Next I talked to her sister who I heard say, "I don't wanna talk to her!" But then she did and I said, "You didn't want to talk to me?!" And she said, "Heh. I'm silly..." :)

I love them!

remember.

This picture is from earlier this summer. We were at the playground with an abundance of dandylions to blow. :)

Just a story I want to remember.

A couple weeks ago, we were upstairs playing in the girls room and I was sprawled on the bed once again being served many fantastic new recipes from the girls' pretend kitchen. My baby climbed onto the bed...and then onto me and pressed his face up against mine and nuzzled my cheek. I thought he was going to give me a kiss but he didn't. Just kept nuzzling my cheek..temple...cheek.

"What're you doing, silly??"
(Deep breath in and a little sigh...) "Just smelling." :)

(Eyebrows raised, laughing a little...) "Smelling?? Well, what do I smell like?"
(Another deep breath.) "Cheeeeese!!"

In a little boy's world, smelling like cheese is a compliment.

I hope.

you know...

you have used your children as the subject of too many experimental "photo shoots" when...

...their aunt comes for a visit over Mother's Day and your six year old asks her aunt to take a picture of her, gets her face right up next to the lens while the picture is being taken, asks to examine the picture on the digital screen, and then comments: "Aunt Janet, I think you should retake it without the flash." (The picture above was the one retaken without the flash.) :}

incriminating evidence

I would like to share with you my story of the week. And first I must add that I know I don't usually write the names of my children, but for this one post, it is just necessary to share one name with you for the full effect. :}
Earlier this week my girls had been asking to play up in their room, which we usually do for a few minutes in the mornings after we get dressed and make our beds, etc. But then school needs to be started so we head back downstairs and tend to get involved in stuff down here for the rest of the day.
Anyways, I made a special point to take them back upstairs after the baby's nap one day this week and let them play. They were having a blast playing with their My Little Ponies and Webkinz animals while I sat on a bed and watched and "ate" the yummy "food" the baby brought me from their little play kitchen. :)
At one point, my middle child started making some comments that caught my ear, such as, "Who did that?? Did you do that? I didn't do that!!" I looked over at where there were playing by the window seat and asked what was going on. My middle child said, "Someone drew on the seat right here with a pen!!" At which point my oldest piped up and said, "I didn't do it, Kiki!" Now, I must stop here and share with you that we tend to joke that my oldest can't tell a lie to save her life, although my middle child, unfortunately, is pretty good at it sometimes. So when the oldest says she did or did not do something, we tend to believe her. Besides the fact that when something like this occurs, it's just like my middle child to do it - or the baby nowadays.... So at this point I think, oh well, whatever, I'm sure it was the middle child but I'll worry about it later, besides, I am in the middle of a lovely cup of pretend tea!
After a while Wendy came home and happened to sit down on the window seat. We chatted for a minute when she noticed the drawing on the seat. She immediately looked up and said,"Tess! Why did you do that?!" She instantly got an "Uhoh! I'm in trouble!" look on her face and glanced over to see my reaction. I was surprised that Wendy would so quickly blame Tess for the drawing and asked how she knew with such certainty who the culprit was. Wendy asked if I had "seen what it says" and I confessed that no, I had been told about it but hadn't gone over to inspect the damage yet. Then I said wait, it SAYS something?? That right there pointed away from the middle child who doesn't quite know how to sound words out yet. I asked what it said and Wendy said I would just have to come see for myself. Which is what you will have to do too...scroll down.......

Notice that it is complete with a checkmark in the box! Ha! This is one of those times when you know you shouldn't let the child see or hear you laugh but it was just too hard to hold it in and we both totally cracked up! :}
